The first day of the Xanthi City Symposium successfully completed
The event started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Cesur Hasanoğlu, one of the religious officials of the Muftiate of Xanthi. Then the opening speeches were made.
Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, took the first floor in the opening speeches. Trampa stated that the main aim of the event was to realise a work in the sense of urban history. Following Mustafa Trampa, Hüseyin Baltacı, President of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association, Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of the Xanthi Turkish Union and Burhan Baran, PASOK MP for Xanthi took the floor and made welcoming speeches.
The opening of the symposium was attended by Consul General of Turkey in Komotini Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, Deputy Chairman of FEP Party Bahri Belço, Director General of BAKEŞ Pervin Hayrullah, President of the Union of Western Thrace Minority Councillors Mehmet Duban, local administrators and cognates.
Within the scope of the symposium, 23 speakers will speak in five separate sessions. Within this framework, two sessions were held on Saturday 2 March.
The first session was moderated by Pervin Hayrullah, Director General of BAKEŞ. Şefika Trampa, Muhammed Fatih Deli, Cengiz Ömer, Beyzanur İmam and Ahmet Kara made their presentations in the first session.
After the coffee break, the second session was moderated by Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of Xanthi Turkish Union. In the second session, Feyza Budur, Sevil Şerifoğlu, Fatma Onbaşı, Cavit Karabıyıklı-Mustafa Kamu and Ramadan Duban made presentations.
The symposium held at the Cultural Centre of Xanthi of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association attracted great interest. The participants who completely filled the hall of the cultural centre had the opportunity to learn important information about Xanthi.
The Xanthi City Symposium will be completed today (Sunday 3 March) with 3 sessions and 13 speakers.
