Taste and tradition meet in Yassıköy: Gastronomy Festival draws great interest
Organized under the auspices of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Administration and supported by the Greek Association of Professional Chefs, the festival brought together local residents, chefs, and visitors from across the region.
The event was attended by Yassıköy Mayor Caner İmam, Turkey’s Consul General in İskeçe Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, Kozlukebir Mayor Erdem Hüseyin, and several other local officials and community leaders.
Celebrating Local Flavors
The festival showcased the diverse culinary identity of Western Thrace, featuring traditional dishes, desserts, and regional specialties prepared by local chefs and culinary students. Visitors had the opportunity to experience both authentic flavors and the hospitality that defines the area’s multicultural character.
Music and cultural performances complemented the gastronomic presentations, creating a lively atmosphere that highlighted the fusion of taste, culture, and tradition in Yassıköy.
At the close of the event, the Yassıköy Municipal Administration extended its gratitude to all participants — including local associations, businesses, chefs, culinary students, jury members, and the İskeçe Music School — for their contributions to the festival’s success.
