Regional councillor leaves governing faction in Eastern Macedonia and Western Thrace

Regional councillor Grigoris Papaemmanouil has announced his departure from the "New Regional Renaissance" faction in the Regional Council of Eastern Macedonia and Western Thrace, becoming an independent member.

Papaemmanouil said his decision followed political disagreements over the direction and operation of the regional administration. While leaving the governing faction, he stated that he would continue serving as a regional councillor and support initiatives he believes are in the public interest.

The move alters the political balance within the regional council and comes amid ongoing debates over regional governance and development priorities.
