Prime Minister Mitsotakis meets with his Dutch counterpart Rutte
Speaking with his counterpart in front of the press before the meeting, Rutte stated that Greece and the Netherlands have similar views on many issues.
"We are close allies. We co-operate in NATO, in the European Union (EU)." Rutte said, noting that a summit will be held next week, where important issues such as Ukraine and the EU budget will be discussed.
Rutte also described the 5th High Level Cooperation Council (HLC) meeting between Türkiye and Greece as "successful" and said that he would like to hear about this issue from his Greek counterpart.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis recalled that he made one of his first foreign visits to the Netherlands in 2019 as a newly appointed prime minister.
Stating that important issues such as the budget and Ukraine will be discussed at the next EU Summit, Mr Mitsotakis noted that the EU membership process of the countries in the Western Balkans, which is one of the important issues for Greece, will also be on the agenda of the summit.
Underlining the need to increase the share allocated from the EU budget for the migration issue and natural disasters, Mitsotakis informed his Dutch counterpart about his meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Athens and the "Athens Declaration on Friendly Relations and Good Neighbourliness" signed between the two countries.
