Pharmaceutical Conference left positive impressions

The 4th Pharmaceutical Conference of Eastern Macedonia Thrace organized by the Pharmaceutical Associations of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace (Drama, Evros, Kavala, Xanthi, Rhodope and Serres), hosted by the Pharmaceutical Association of Kavala with the active support of the region's Pharmacists' Cooperatives, was concluded with great success on June 25-26, 2022, in Kavala.

 The 4th Pharmaceutical Conference of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace dealt with issues concerning today's pharmacy. 

In the context of the work of the conference took place:

– Round Table on "Greek Pharmacy: perspectives and challenges of tomorrow", in which the main presentation was made by the president of PFS, Mr. Apostolos Valtas. The discussion was chaired by Mrs. Anastasia Rakitzi, president of the Board of Directors. FS. Kavala.

- Update from the PFS on the new way of submitting and clearing prescriptions on the subject of "Regular control of drug prescriptions". The introductory speech was made by the president of PFS, Mr. Apostolos Valtas, and the topic was presented by the member of the Board of Directors and president of F.S. Chania Mr. Emmanuel Katsarakis.

- Module on "The meta-era of pharmacy", during which the following were developed: "Pharmacy partnerships" by Mr. Athanasios Gouvala, pharmacist MSc, "Legislative reforms in the meta-era of pharmacy" by Mr. Ilias Dimitrellos , legal advisor of the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, and "Recent European perspectives and challenges in the field of pharmacy" by Mr. Andreas Vitsos, pharmacist, president F.S. Zakynthos, advisor of the Greek delegation to PGEU.

WORKSHOP

"The modern technology of nano-vaccines. Case study of nano-vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus" "CASE STUDY ON NANOVACCINES", edited by Mr. Konstantinos Demetzos, professor of Pharmaceutical Technology & Nanotechnology of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. The introductory speech on "Liposomal technology in nutritional supplements: clinical evidence" was given by Mr. Ilias Katsogiannis, pharmacist, MSc.

Furthermore, distinguished scientists gave speeches on:

-Efficacy and safety in medication: Challenges and perspectives for the pharmaceutical profession.

-The Nano-technological platform and the morphology of modern and innovative vaccines

-iGEM MetaThess: Innovative approaches to molecular diagnosis of lung cancer

-I manage trauma according to National Guidelines

-The role of the pharmacist in Primary Health Care in the post-Covid era. Opportunities and challenges

-Daily Pain & Inflammation: The Role of NSAIDs in Treating Them

-The place of nimesulide in the treatment of acute pain

-The advisory role of the pharmacist in the handling of frequent pathological conditions of the digestive system

-Hypertension Diabetes Corner – adherence and regulation support services for people with cardiovascular risk factors

-Nutritional gaps in children's daily life and how they can be covered

-8 years Kavala Medical Group

At the same time, the Pharmaceutical Association of Kavala organized events the previous week in collaboration with the Medical and Dental Association of the city.

More specifically, from June 20 to 24, speeches were given by doctors to inform citizens on health issues, such as:

-The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the mental health of children and adolescents

-Preventive Dentistry

- Summer allergies

-Vaginitis – Urinary tract infections – The uninvited guests of summer

The parallel events were concluded with a musical event by the Old Songs Orchestra for the citizens of Kavala.

Finally, during the days of the conference there was an exhibition with pharmacy products and services.
