Özgür Ferhat criticizes Government's Response on fire department upgrades

Ferhat stated that the government's position was disappointing, and he expected more concrete actions.

In a statement from Ferhat's office on Friday, October 4, 2024, it was noted that, "The New Democracy government continues to disappoint with its failure to deliver on promises to address the fundamental needs of the Rodopi region. The response from the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to the MP's question highlighted the lack of concrete steps in addressing the urgent need for fire department upgrades."

While the Ministry acknowledged that updating fire department facilities is a priority, Ferhat criticized the lack of progress. The statement also pointed out that while promises have been made to construct new buildings for the fire department, no tangible action has been taken. Additionally, personnel arrangements have only been made for 2024, lacking any long-term commitment.

Ferhat's office further stated, "It is unacceptable that the New Democracy government continues to take superficial steps and fails to translate promises into action. The people of Rodopi, like those across the country, require effective infrastructure for emergency services, particularly in the face of natural disasters like wildfires. However, the government has consistently fallen short in this responsibility."

The statement concluded by condemning the government's approach, labeling it negligent and insufficient, and calling for immediate steps to strengthen the region’s emergency response infrastructure. "Rodopi deserves better, and we will continue to fight for the services that our community needs," Ferhat added.
