MP Zeybek: "The situation of ELGA is terrible"
New Left MP for Xanthi Huseyin Zeybek said that the situation of the Region Agricultural Compensation Agency (ELGA) is deplorable.
MP Zeybek posed questions to the relevant ministry on the situation of ELGA and how the government plans to act to solve the problems. Hüseyin Zeybek, together with 4 deputies from the New Left party, submitted a parliamentary question to the parliament on the "dramatic" situation of ELGA and the problems that lead to the producers not receiving the compensation they are entitled to.
The questions raised by the New Left MPs regarding the problems they raised are as follows:
1. When will the full payments for the DANIEL damages be made?
2. When will the compensation of damages other than DANIEL and ELIAS be completed?
3. What is the financial situation of ELGA? Is it able to meet the increased demands arising from adverse weather conditions in recent years? What are ELGA's cash reserves and what is the amount of unpaid claims from previous years?
4. Will there be an extension of time for the payment of the 2023 contributions?
5. What is envisaged for the recruitment of permanent staff at ELGA? Why is the government not hiring the necessary permanent staff to speed up aid payments?
6. When will the consultation process for the new ELGA insurance regulation be made public?
7. What are the reasons for not differentiating the compensation price for organic products? Do you plan to correct this injustice against farmers growing organic crops?
8. What is the average repayment period for all producers from the date of notification of their losses by ELGA? Could you please explain the database for the last 5 years, including the date of notification of the loss and the payment dates?
9. Which compensation claims from previous years, which are covered by the ELGA regulation, have not been paid to date? Has the recording of findings on these claims been completed and, if so, what are the reasons for the delay in their reimbursement?
10. Has the digitalisation of the evaluation procedure progressed and at what stage?
