The İskeçe Turkish Minority Middle–High School organized a comprehensive cultural trip to Edirne for its junior high school students, offering an educational and memorable experience focused on history, culture, and cross-border ties.

The trip was held on Friday, January 16, 2026, as part of the “Support for Education and Our Students Project”, in cooperation with the School Board (Encümen Heyeti) and the Parents’ Association.

Over 100 Students Participate

More than 100 students took part in the excursion, accompanied by School Board President Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Board Secretary Bahri Belço, and representatives of the Parents’ Association. Traveling in two buses, the students enjoyed a well-organized program that combined learning with social interaction.

Official Visits in Edirne

As part of the program, a delegation representing the School Board and students paid a courtesy visit to Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer. Governor Sezer received information about the school and expressed his satisfaction with the visit. To mark the occasion, Board President Ozan Ahmetoğlu presented the governor with a commemorative school plaque.

The delegation also visited the Edirne Office of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). They were welcomed by YTB Edirne Coordinator Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentürk and his team, who briefed the group on YTB’s activities and the work of the Edirne office. Ahmetoğlu thanked the hosts for their hospitality and presented another school plaque.

Exploring Edirne’s Cultural Heritage

During the cultural tour, students visited some of Edirne’s most significant historical landmarks, including the Üç Şerefeli Mosque, historic külliye complexes, and the Health Museum, accompanied by a professional guide. The program also included free time, allowing students to explore the city and enjoy shopping.

An Educational and Inspiring Experience

Students returned to İskeçe with great enthusiasm, having had the opportunity to discover Edirne’s rich historical and cultural heritage while strengthening bonds with their peers. The trip concluded with the group’s return to İskeçe in the evening hours.
