Maronia-Şapçı Municipality schools continue to organise informative events to instil dog love in pupils

Within the framework of the educational programme of the Municipality of Maronia-Shapchi in cooperation with the Rhodope Secondary School Directorate, on Tuesday, 16 April, an informative event was held at the Intercultural Primary School of Shapchi to instil in the students the love of dogs.

Within the scope of the said training programme, which offers students the opportunity to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge, the students of Şapçı Intercultural Primary School had the opportunity to meet the specially trained labrador LEKSİS. Labrador LEKSIS was accompanied by Haralambos Koukouzelis, certified dog trainer and member of the Greek Dog Trainers Association, and Evangelia Moutousidou, Assistant Veterinarian.

The main objective of the programme is to spread animalism, and it is also aimed to inform children who want to adopt a dog about their responsibilities and to raise active and conscious citizens about stray dogs.

The training programme, which took place at the Intercultural Primary School of Şapçı, was attended by Okan Haliloğlu, Deputy Mayor for Commercial Activity, Social Policy and Sport, and Dimitrios Kotsakis, Deputy Mayor for Education, Culture and Tourism, representing the Municipality of Maronia-Shapçı. On behalf of Mayor Ioannou, the two Deputy Mayors thanked all the participants.

The educational programmes on dog love for students will continue with the activities to be held at Şapçı Intercultural Education General High School on Thursday, 18 April and Şapçı Intercultural Education Secondary School on Tuesday, 23 April.
