Local market to open in Amaxades with 48 allocated stalls

The Regional Council of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) has approved the allocation of 48 market stalls in the new Local Open-Air Market of Amaxades. The decision was made during the Council’s session on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, and grants operating licenses to existing vendors (both producers and professional traders) who currently operate in local markets across the region for fewer than six days per week.

The establishment of the market was previously approved by the Municipal Council of Iasmos, following a formal request from the Amaxades local community. With the Regional Council’s endorsement, the market stalls can now be auctioned to eligible participants.

According to the approved plan, the new market will be located on the municipal road north of the village's football field and northwest of the local mosque. The space will be divided into 48 five-meter stalls, evenly distributed between producers and professional street vendors, in accordance with legal regulations.

This initiative aims to support local commerce, boost regional agricultural and artisanal sales, and provide residents with greater access to fresh produce and goods.
