Late İskeçe Mufti Ahmet Mete commemorated on fourth anniversary of his death
The late Mufti of İskeçe, Ahmet Mete, was commemorated on Tuesday at his graveside on the fourth anniversary of his death during a memorial ceremony organized by the Mufti's Office of İskeçe.
The event was held at the Lower Neighborhood Cemetery in İskeçe and attended by Türkiye's Consul General in Gümülcine Aykut Ünal and his wife İlayda Ünal, Mufti of İskeçe and Chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of İskeçe Mustafa Trampa, Members of Parliament Hüseyin Zeybek and Burhan Baran, Friendship, Equality and Peace (DEB) Party leader Çiğdem Asafoğlu, Mayor of Mustafçova Ahmet Kurt, representatives of minority institutions and associations, religious officials and members of the Turkish minority.
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Quran, followed by a prayer led by İskeçe Mufti Ahmet Hraloğlu.
Speakers, including members of Mete's family and representatives of the Turkish minority, paid tribute to his contribution to the struggle for the rights and freedoms of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace. They highlighted his leadership, determination and enduring legacy, saying his ideas and commitment to the community continue to inspire future generations.
