Labor unions and associations of Xanthi asking for reduction in the prices of basic items

Labor unions and associations of Xanthi carried out symbolic demonstrations outside supermarkets, as a continuation of the decisions taken from the meeting held at the beginning of October. 

Furthermore, a call is addressed to a rally on Thursday, October 20 in the central square at 18:30.

In their related announcement, labor unions and associations of Xanthi note: "the passes and vouchers announced by the government are a drop in the ocean, when the current has skyrocketed, when gasoline and fuel fluctuate at €2 per liter. 

Large part of our monthly income goes to supermarket checkouts. 

The commodity price situation is out of control! 

We working-class families have our income raided by double-digit increases on supermarket shelves. 

According to forecasts, the prices of 35 basic product categories will increase again in the next two months."

Describing a grim situation that the citizens have to manage in the coming months, they claim:

A bold reduction and price ceiling on the basic items of general consumption, such as food (e.g. milk, flour, oils, fats), clothing, etc.

Abolition of VAT on basic consumer goods.

825 euors minimum salary in the Private sector. 

Restoration of 13th – 14th salary and pension.

Unemployment benefit of €600 for all unemployed people without conditions.

Reduction of municipal fees by at least 50%.

Tax-free at 12,000 euros, increased by 3,000 euros for each child.
