Işık Sadık Ahmet attends July 15 commemoration at Turkish parliament
The Honorary President of the Friendship, Equality and Peace (DEB) Party, Işık Sadık Ahmet, attended the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day commemoration ceremony held at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The ceremony was also attended by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli, government ministers, political party representatives and other invited guests.
The program included a moment of silence, the Turkish national anthem, a Quran recitation, prayers and a video commemorating the events of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt.
Pays tribute to July 15 victims
During the event, Ahmet met with senior Turkish officials and said the resistance shown by the Turkish people on the night of July 15 represented a historic defense of democracy, the state and the national will.
He described the events as a lasting symbol of national unity and commemorated those who lost their lives during the coup attempt.
Ahmet also paid tribute to Mustafa Cambaz, the Western Thrace-born *Yeni Şafak* photojournalist who was killed during the events of July 15, saying his memory would continue to be honored.
