Five arrests in Rhodope for driving without a licence

Between March 24 and March 29, 2025, police officers from various services of the General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace conducted a series of traffic checks, leading to the arrest of fourteen individuals in Alexandroupoli, Xanthi, Rhodope, and Kavala for violations of the Road Traffic Code.
Specifically, during these checks aimed at addressing dangerous driving behaviors, the following arrests were made:
Three Greek nationals in different areas of Alexandroupoli were apprehended by officers from the Alexandroupoli Police Department, the Alexandroupoli Traffic Department, and the Border Guard Department of Feres for driving private passenger vehicles without a valid driver’s license.
Four Greek nationals were arrested in Xanthi by officers from the OPKE (Crime Prevention and Suppression Team), the Xanthi Police Department, and the Xanthi Traffic Department for operating three private passenger vehicles and one motorcycle without a driver’s license.
Five Greek nationals in Rhodope were detained by officers from the Komotini Traffic Department, the Police Departments of Arriana and Sapes, and the Rhodope Mobile Police Unit for driving three private passenger vehicles and two motorcycles without a valid license.
Two Greek nationals in Kavala were arrested by officers from the Paggaio and Nestos Police Departments for operating motorcycles without a driver’s license.
The General Regional Police Directorate of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has assured that such traffic checks will continue at an intensified pace to enhance road safety and enforce traffic regulations.
