A fire that broke out at the Kipi Border Gate on the evening of August 13 was brought under control later that night.
The fire started behind the facilities at the Kipi Border Gate, which connects Greece to Türkiye. It quickly spread across a large area, burning agricultural land and dry grass on the right side of the Egnatia Highway. Seven fire trucks and 14 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Strong winds in the area made the firefighting efforts challenging, and the road leading to the Kipi Border Gate was temporarily closed by police.
In addition, the Public Power Corporation (DEY) cut some cables to prevent incidents such as electric shocks.
