Elderly woman attacked by stray dogs in Şahin, seriously injured

In the village of Sahin, a 76-year-old woman was attacked by stray dogs. The unfortunate woman, who was seriously injured in various parts of her body, was first taken to Xanthi State Hospital. After the first intervention, the elderly woman in critical condition was referred to Thessaloniki Papageorgiou Hospital.

Authorities stated that the woman's health condition is under control and her treatment has started. As it is known, local administrations are responsible for stray dogs. In this case, it is known that the dogs in Şahin are also under the responsibility of Mustafçova Municipality. Municipality administrators are expected to make a statement on the issue.

Statement from Hüseyin Mehmet Usta on the Attack

Hüseyin Mehmet Usta, former Region Assembly member and candidate for Mustafçova Municipality council member in the 8 October elections, published a statement on his personal social media account about the dog attack.

Mehmet Usta's statement is as follows:

"I would like to make a statement about the woman who was attacked in my village in Şahin. The person who was attacked by a dog is my Haji Aunt Sabiha Musa, she is 76 years old. The damage caused by the dog is great, fortunately there is no danger to her life. She was sent from Xanthi Hospital to Thessaloniki Papanikolaou Hospital. She has a small fracture slightly above her left wrist, but the most serious injuries are on her face. There is a deep bite and laceration by the dog between the nose and both eyes. There is an inward tear in the left eye. May God protect us all from such attacks. I had to make this statement in order not to allow further rumours."

Such incidents underline the importance of controlling stray animals and ensuring public safety. The public emphasises that local authorities should take urgent measures in this regard.
