Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Region participates at the Food Expo in Stockholm
This is the only international food exhibition of its kind, considered as one of the fastest-growing events, attracting participants from many countries. Recently, the event was relocated from Malmö to Stockholm and is aimed primarily at Swedish consumers, but also at those in neighboring countries due to shared distribution networks.
Sweden is an attractive market due to its large population, high standard of living, and a general fondness for Greek products. The EMTH Region decided to participate for the first time, following a visit by Swedish food importers and retailers to the region months ago, which confirmed the growth potential of local products. The EMTH administration is committed to supporting these development efforts in every possible way.
Participating businesses from the EMTH region included:
Komotini Mills (Flour Milling – Semolina Production)
Melisseon (Honey by Eleni Vogiatzoglou)
Greek Imperator (Olive Oil by Dimitra Tsiacha)
The Grecials (Honey and other products by SEKAE S.A.)
Apos EVOO (Olive Oil by Georgios Diloudis)
Additionally, several businesses from other regions of Greece, such as Crete, Thessaly, and the Peloponnese, also took part in the exhibition. The AMTH Region was represented by Dr. Th. Markopoulos (Agronomist, Deputy Regional Governor of Kavala & Acting Regional Governor) and Dr. S. Papadopoulos (Agronomist, General Director of the Agricultural Sector). They assessed market trends and explored opportunities to further develop the region's food businesses in the Swedish market.
During the exhibition, there was also a meeting with Pelagia Sousiopoulou, the commercial attaché of the Greek Embassy, where constructive discussions took place regarding strengthening commercial relations and promoting local products in the Swedish market. It was agreed to maintain continuous communication and collaboration.
Lastly, following the exhibition, the AMTH Region plans to conduct a detailed review to evaluate the event and gather feedback from the exhibitors to improve future participation
