Deputy Mayor Şaban Bandak resigned
Xanthi Deputy Mayor Şaban Bandak resigned both from his position and from Mayor Tsepelis's list on the grounds that the promises were not fulfilled.
Şaban Bandak, who is the Deputy Mayor in charge of Environment and Cleaning in Xanthi Municipality, announced that he resigned from his position. Bandak resigned from the list of Xanthi Mayor Manolis Tsepelis and continue his duty as an independent councilor.
Speaking to MİLLET on the subject, Şaban Bandak emphasized that the promises given to him before the election were not fulfilled, and therefore he could not continue his duty as the Deputy Mayor in charge of Environment and Cleanliness.
Şaban Bandak spoke to Millet:
“I see that the promises made to the people before the elections were not fulfilled. I also see that there is no serious effort to fulfil the promises, despite my warnings and calls.
I did not receive the necessary support from the management for the cleaning works of the Xanthi Municipality.
I promised to serve our people before the elections. Unfortunately, the conditions I was in did not allow me to provide the service I wanted.
The development that caused the rope to break was the issue of workers who were taken to the municipality in the past days.
Within the framework of OAED programs, a total of 111 people were recruited to work in the municipality on a seasonal basis.
Only five of them were taken to the environment and cleaning department for which I was responsible.
At least 40-50 of them should have been assigned to cleaning jobs.
Because there is a great need in this field. Since it was very difficult for me to serve my people and keep the promise I made to them under these circumstances, I resigned from both my post of deputy mayor and Manolis Tsepelis's list.
From now on I will continue to represent our people as an independent assembly member.”
