Delegation of Western Thrace Turks pays courtesy visit to Kocaeli Governor İlhami Aktaş
A delegation representing the Turkish minority of Western Thrace paid a courtesy visit to Kocaeli Governor İlhami Aktaş during their stay in Türkiye for the commemorations of the 29 January Day of Social Solidarity and National Resistance.
The Western Thrace delegation, which was in Türkiye to attend official memorial events marking 29 January, visited Governor Aktaş at his office in the province of Kocaeli.
Exchange of Views on Issues Facing Western Thrace Turks
The delegation was led by Mustafa Trampa, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of İskeçe. During the meeting, the delegation thanked Governor Aktaş for hosting them and provided information regarding the challenges and issues faced by the Turkish minority in Western Thrace.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on various topics of mutual interest related to minority rights, education and social solidarity.
Participants in the Visit
According to a statement released by the Kocaeli Governor’s Office, the delegation included:
- Mustafa Trampa, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of İskeçe
- Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Journalist and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School
- Hasan Küçük, President of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Türkiye
- Yüksel Öztürk, President of the İzmit Branch of the Federation of Western Thrace Turks, along with board members
Governor İlhami Aktaş welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their kind visit, holding a cordial discussion with the guests.
