Condemnation by minority politicians and association executives
With the joint statement published, offensive and insulting attacks against representatives of institutions and organizations as well as private individuals were condemned.
Western Thrace Turkish Minority politicians and heads of non-governmental organizations, in a joint statement, condemned the offensive and insulting attacks against minority member politicians, local administrators, representatives of institutions and organizations and private individuals.
The statement signed by minority deputies, FEP Party chairman, mayors, local administrators and minority association presidents is as follows:
“Recently, we have witnessed that a website in our region and one of its authors has written offensive, even insulting, articles against politicians, representatives of local executive institutions-organizations and private individuals in our region.
The commissioned 'articles' in question contain some personal information that is clearly not provided by normal journalistic activity, include events that have nothing to do with reality, and assassinate reputations. This method reminds of the practices during the Military Junta. After 1974, we believed that our country had passed into democracy.
Unfortunately, we see with sadness that some minds in our region are still stuck in the junta period, and although our country is considered the cradle of democracy, the understanding of democracy in our region still remains in the cradle.
It is unacceptable to try to discredit our young politicians, local administrators, representatives of institutions and organizations, who are fighting for democracy and human rights, with lies and slanders that amount to insults, so that certain people can retain their seats.
The aforementioned author harms the unity and solidarity in our region with the lies, insults and slanders he writes, creates unrest among the people, and tramples the reputation of our region across Greece.
We believe that the author's inability to realize that such articles harm the people he wants to defend more than us, and that they further degrade their reputation in the eyes of the public, reveals the extent of the author's political and social foresight in the best way.
In this context, we, the undersigned, condemn the site and its author, who do nothing but harm the people living in our region, and on the contrary encourage separatism and polarization among the people.
We condemn the site and its author in the strongest terms, whose best service is to carry out the ambitions of dark circles, which spoils our country's relations with neighboring countries and considers it a feat to spread fake news about politicians, local administrators and private individuals in our region.
For the sake of our region, we invite all relevant authorities, including the prosecutor's office, to do their duty in the face of these crimes committed through the media.
