Baran warns government that İskeçe remains vulnerable to disasters

Greek MP Burhan Baran has called on the government to take urgent action to strengthen disaster preparedness in İskeçe, warning that the region remains inadequately protected against floods, wildfires and other natural hazards.
Baran stressed that existing infrastructure and prevention measures are insufficient to effectively respond to emergencies, urging authorities to accelerate long-delayed projects aimed at improving civil protection and public safety. He emphasized that residents should not have to face recurring risks due to inadequate planning and investment.
The lawmaker called for coordinated efforts to enhance disaster resilience in the region, arguing that proactive measures are essential to protecting lives, property and the local environment.
