Ahmet Yesevi University introduced to Turkish students in Komotini
Promotional Event Held at Komotini Turkish Youth Union
The university’s introduction event took place at 2:00 p.m. at the Komotini Turkish Youth Union premises. The event was attended by Turkey’s Consul General in Komotini, Aykut Ünal, the President of the Komotini Turkish Youth Union, Sedat Hasan, and local high school students.
The program began with a short promotional video about Ahmet Yesevi University, providing a visual overview of its campus and educational offerings.
Insight from University Representative Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş
Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş, Member of the Board of Trustees of Ahmet Yesevi University and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, addressed the audience. He provided a comprehensive introduction to the university’s foundation, mission, vision, and academic structure.
He emphasized that the university was established as a joint initiative between Kazakhstan and Turkey, symbolizing a strong cultural and academic partnership between the two nations. Instruction is offered in Kazakh, Turkish, Russian, and English. The university comprises 12 faculties, one college, and one preparatory school, serving approximately 14,000 students from 12 countries and 39 ethnic backgrounds.
Support and Opportunities for International Students
Prof. Purtaş highlighted the opportunities offered to international students, noting that tuition is free for foreign nationals. The university also covers airfare, provides scholarships based on a lottery system, and offers on-campus dormitory housing for both male and female students.
Expanding Horizons for Western Thrace Youth
With a legacy of over 33 years and more than 100,000 graduates, Ahmet Yesevi University has not yet hosted students from Western Thrace. However, through this event, the institution aims to open new academic pathways for young people in the region.
