1,078 inspections and 32 helmet violations recorded in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Police officers of the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Regional Police Directorate carried out 1,078 inspections and recorded 32 violations during the past week (October 20–26) as part of the campaign “Zero Tolerance for Non-Use of Helmets.”
The initiative aims to promote full compliance among riders of two-wheel vehicles and users of Light Personal Electric Vehicles (LPEVs) such as electric scooters.
Targeted checks were conducted by Traffic Police units in several cities of the region, focusing on drivers and passengers of mopeds, motorcycles, three-wheelers, and open rental vehicles, as well as professional delivery riders.
According to police data:
27 violations were recorded among motorcycle riders,
1 violation involved a motorcycle passenger, and
4 violations concerned electric scooter users.
In addition to enforcement, police officers also delivered informational talks on road safety and the mandatory use of protective helmets and distributed leaflets to raise public awareness.
