YTB President Eren: Kirkuk’s demographic structure must Be preserved

Abdullah Eren, President of Türkiye’s Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), emphasized the need to avoid any actions that could harm the Turkish identity during the census conducted in Kirkuk, a historically Turkish region.

Speaking to Qırım News Agency, Eren stated, “Kirkuk, a historic Turkish homeland, is undergoing a census. We firmly believe that any attempts to alter the demographic structure of Kirkuk or harm the Turkish identity should be avoided. The concerns of Kirkuk Turks must be taken seriously. Our support is always with the Turks of Iraq.” He underlined that safeguarding the Turkish identity in Kirkuk is vital not only for Iraq’s Turkish population but also for the entire Turkish world.

The Iraqi Turkmen Front held the federal government accountable for violations during the census, claiming these irregularities aim to alter Kirkuk’s demographic structure. The party called on authorities to strictly monitor the census process and prevent external families from being improperly registered. “We will not remain silent against any attempts to change Kirkuk’s demographic fabric,” the statement declared, holding the federal government responsible for the situation.
