Işık Sadık Ahmet attends Turkish Parliament’s 106th anniversary reception
Işık Sadık Ahmet, honorary president of the Friendship Equality Peace Party and widow of late Western Thrace Turkish leader Sadık Ahmet, attended a high-profile reception marking the 106th anniversary of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM).
The commemorative event brought together senior state officials, military leaders, and lawmakers in the capital, Ankara.
High-Level participation at Anniversary Event
In a statement shared on social media, Ahmet expressed her appreciation for being part of the مراسم, noting that it was particularly meaningful to meet key figures including Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Numan Kurtulmuş, as well as top military commanders and members of parliament.
Tribute to Founding Figures
Ahmet also paid tribute to the founders of the Turkish Republic, especially Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, honoring their legacy with “gratitude, respect, and remembrance.”
She concluded her message by invoking the principle that defines Turkish democracy: “Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation.”
The annual reception marks a significant milestone in Türkiye’s political history, commemorating the establishment of its national legislature in 1920.
