Greek and Bulgarian citizens to be facilitated at customs gates

Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sezai Irmak said that a study will be initiated to facilitate the procedures at customs gates for citizens who bring their vehicles from Greece and Bulgaria to Edirne for repair.

Irmak said, "It is not possible for us to be in any action that will oppose customs laws. I am concerned about how we can provide more added value to our tradesmen. If there is a convenience here, there will be a significant increase in the work of the tradesmen in the industrial site. There is an intense demand from there."

Irmak stated that citizens from Greece and Bulgaria have shown intense demand for Edirne Industrial Site to have their vehicles repaired. Irmak noted that work will start on Monday to facilitate the customs procedures of citizens entering Edirne for vehicle repair through customs gates.

"WE WILL TAKE THE NECESSARY INITIATIVES TO FIND SOLUTIONS"

"I received intense complaints from our industrial tradesmen about the vehicles coming for repair from customs. I discussed the issue with our Governor, who instructed us to meet with the customs director and find a joint solution to the problem. On Monday, we will take a few officials from the industry and meet with the chief customs director and take the necessary initiatives to find a solution to this issue. This issue has been on my agenda for 10-15 days."

"THERE WILL BE A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE BUSINESS OF TRADESMEN"

Giving an example based on an incoming problem, Irmak stated the following:

"A man removes the top cover of his engine and brings it for repair. The work he would have done here for 3-5 thousand liras is 2-3 times the price in Greece, and he has to go to Dedeağaç, 120 kilometers from there. He comes here, 5 kilometers. Our tradesmen will make money. Our meatball, liver and soup shops will make money. The tradesmen will earn money and the man will happily fix his malfunction and go to his village. This is our problem, otherwise it is not possible for us to be involved in any illegal business, any action that will oppose customs laws. I am concerned about how we can provide more added value to our tradesmen. If there is a convenience here, there will be a significant increase in the work of the tradesmen in the industrial site. There is an intense demand from there. Auto electricians, body shops, rectifiers, engineers, pumpers, all of them will benefit from this facility."
