The experienced coach won the Greek Cup for the first time in its history for AEK, which he coached last season.
Öçal stated that they met with the federation administration two days ago and made a one-year agreement.
Stating that the process developed very quickly, Öçal said, “They were thinking of me along with a few other candidates. With Marcello’s suggestion, they thought I was the right candidate. The fact that they got to know me also had an impact on their decision.” Öçal continued his speech as follows:
“This summer, we will compete with the Greek National Team in the European Championship. There are tough teams like Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Czechia in our group. We have to get out of the group by being in the top 4 among the six teams. We need to be results-oriented. We will set up the staff accordingly. We have talented players. Our first goal is to get out of the group, then we will move forward step by step.”
2023 Avduha Women’s Volleyball Championship will be hosted by Belgium, Germany, Italy and Estonia on 15 August-3 September.
