French football superstar and former FIFA World Cup champion Kylian Mbappe signed for Real Madrid, the Spanish powerhouse confirmed on Monday.

"Real Madrid CF and Kylian Mbappe have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons," it said in a statement.

His Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) contract will expire in June.

"A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dream Real Madrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!," Mbappe said on X as his new club welcomes the French forward.

Mbappe, 25, left Paris Saint-Germain after a seven-year stint at Les Rouge-et-Bleu.

Paris-born Mbappe has won six French Ligue 1 titles in seven seasons with PSG, and he was the French champion with Monaco in 2017.
