PAOK parts ways with Turkish coach amidst fan group controversy

PAOK sports club has announced that it has parted ways with Ataman Güneyligil, the Turkish coach of the women's volleyball team.

According to media reports, the dismissal of the Turkish coach was influenced by the opposition of the fan group "Club PAOK Makedones" to Güneyligil's coaching of the women's volleyball team.

The said fan group had opposed the appointment of Turkish coach Ataman Güneyligil as the head of the women's volleyball team. The reason of the fan group was that Güneyligil had made posts about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. In the statement made by the said fan group on social media, referring to coach Güneyligil, the following statements were used: "We demand that someone who supports a murderer who killed our ancestors (Kemal Atatürk) be fired immediately from the PAOK team, which was founded by immigrants and bears the double-headed eagle on its chest."
