Manchester City makes its mark in international football in 2023

Manchester City secured a unique achievement in 2023 by bagging a total of five titles: the English Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Capping off the year, Pep Guardiola's men achieved a historic milestone by securing five cups, a feat unprecedented among English sides in a calendar year.

Manchester City also became only the sixth team in Europe to claim this historic success.

Club win third Premier League title in a row

Claiming the English top tier crown for the fifth time in six seasons, Manchester City lifted the English Premier League title for the third season in a row after second-place Arsenal were defeated 1-0 on May 20.

They made history by becoming only the fifth club in 135 years of English football to win three championships in a row along with Huddersfield Town, Arsenal, Liverpool, and their cross-town rivals Manchester United.

Champions League title in Istanbul

Despite having claimed titles in the Premier League and cups in England in previous years, Manchester City faced challenges meeting their goals on the European stage.

However, this year marked a significant turning point as Man City successfully broke this streak of misfortune, achieving success in Europe.

Showing their dominance from the group stage, Man City placed as the leader of Group G, which featured formidable opponents Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, and Copenhagen.

Their long journey through the knockout rounds showcased their exceptional performance when they eliminated Leipzig in the last 16, Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals, and Real Madrid in the semifinals.

At Ataturk Olympic Stadium on June 10, Man City defeated Inter Milan to win the UEFA Champions League title after Rodrigo made a close-range finish, assisted by Bernardo Silva.

Manchester City became the first team since their archrival Manchester United 24 years ago to win the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in the same campaign.

They repeated the historic treble in English football after the passage of 24 years, with archrivals Man United being the first team to achieve the feat.

Alex Ferguson completed one of the greatest sporting achievements ever when the Red Devils claimed the treble in the 1998-99 season.

Winning Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup

After concluding the 2022-23 season with three trophies, Manchester City displayed their prowess again, securing two additional trophies, further enhancing their collection in the museum.

Manchester City clinched the 2023 UEFA Super Cup by beating Sevilla 5-4 on penalties after regular time ended 1-1 in the final on Aug. 16.
