Full implementation of digital tickets in the coming season
Alternate Minister of Sports Yiannis Vroutsis and Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou met with Super League President Minas Lysandrou on Monday to discuss the full implementation of digital tickets at sports stadiums starting August 17, through the Gov.gr Wallet.
Ministers were briefed on the preparations by football clubs to ensure that starting with the new season, all fans can verify their regular and season tickets via the Gov.gr Wallet app digitally before entering stadiums at both Super League 1 and Greek Cup matches.
This new process aims to significantly enhance stadium security and fight misconduct by having sports fan verify their tickets through the app on their mobile phones.
A prerequisite for using this system is registering with the National Communication Registry at https://www.gov.gr/ipiresies/polites-kai-kathemerinoteta/stoikheia-polite-kai-tautopoietika-eggrapha/ethniko-metroo-epikoinonias-emep before downloading the Gov.gr Wallet app from Google Play or the App Store. Lysandrou requested continued state funding for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system through the e-Governance Ministry. The ministers agreed to review the request but emphasized to the Super League president that it cannot be the state's perpetual responsibility to finance the VAR system at the expense of Greek taxpayers.
