West Nile Virus cases on the rise

According to the statement made by the National Public Health Organisation yesterday (Tuesday, 8 August), West Nile Virus cases reached 21 in the country. While 19 municipalities across Greece were on "alert", the municipalities of Avdira and Topiros in Xanthi were listed among the regions with a high risk rate.
West Nile Virus cases on the rise

It was noted that 10 of the 21 cases emerged last week, while the number of people who died from the virus in question increased to three and the deceased were over 78 years old.

According to the data of the National Public Health Organisation, six patients infected with West Nile Virus are still being treated. Two of these patients are in the intensive care unit.

An alert was issued for West Nile Virus in 19 municipalities across the country. Avdira and Topiros municipalities of Xanthi are among the high-risk areas in terms of the possibility of contracting West Nile Virus.
