Very high fire risk alert issued for five Greek regions on Friday
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued a Very High Fire Risk (Category 4) warning for several regions of Greece on Friday, according to the latest Fire Risk Map.
Areas under Category 4 risk include:
Central Greece (Regional Unit of Evia)
Attica
Northern Aegean (Regional Units of Lesvos, Chios, Samos, and Ikaria)
Southern Aegean (Regional Units of Rhodes and Karpathos)
Crete (Regional Unit of Lassithi)
Authorities across these regions have been placed on heightened alert, with state services, regional administrations, and local municipalities instructed to be ready to respond swiftly to any fire outbreaks.
The public is strongly advised to avoid all outdoor activities that could cause accidental fires, including the use of barbecues, bonfires, machinery that may produce sparks, handling beehives, or carelessly discarding lit cigarettes.
The Secretariat reminds citizens that preventive vigilance and responsible behavior are crucial during periods of extreme fire risk.
