Traffic inspections in Central Macedonia result in over 800 fines

Authorities in Central Macedonia carried out extensive traffic inspections over the weekend, checking a total of 2,124 vehicles and drivers between April 5 and 6. The operation aimed to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and improve road safety across the region.
TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS AND FINES
A total of 877 drivers were penalized for various violations, including speeding, failure to wear seat belts or helmets, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Specifically, 509 drivers were fined for exceeding speed limits, while 27 others faced penalties for not wearing seat belts or protective helmets. Additionally, 14 drivers were caught operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol. The remaining 327 fines were issued for a range of other traffic infractions.
The police emphasized that such inspections will continue regularly in order to prevent accidents and encourage responsible driving behavior.
