Teachers of one of the children of a police officer formerly stationed at Greece’s Parliament and accused of serial child rape and incest have been summoned to testify in an investigation aiming to determine any potential responsibility on their part.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the investigation was triggered by a school essay written in 2023 by a daughter of the arrested police officer. The essay describes an incident from 2021 in which her brother purportedly fell from a balcony.

The girl and her classmates were asked to write an essay about a memorable experience. After reading the girl’s account of her brother falling from a balcony, the teachers arranged a meeting with her parents.

No signs of sexual abuse or domestic violence were identified during the meeting, according to the ERT report.

The case against the police officer was launched after his wife, also a police officer and mother of five children with a sixth on the way, filed a second domestic violence complaint in November.

She had previously withdrawn an initial complaint in February, after her husband allegedly persuaded her to do so and seek criminal mediation by threatening suicide.

Besides serial child rape and incest allegations, the police officer also faces a financial investigation into possible illicit activities as questions have surfaced about his luxurious lifestyle, which may not align with his income.
