Taxi driver arrested for drug trafficking

Police arrested a taxi driver on Wednesday afternoon, accusing him of being part of a drug trafficking ring.

The arrest followed the confirmation of his involvement in the distribution of processed and unprocessed cannabis, cocaine, pink cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, and ecstasy.
According to authorities, the suspect was found inside his taxi in possession of large quantities of drugs. Officers seized 17.6 kilograms of processed cannabis, 28 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, 2.46 kilograms of cocaine, and 5 grams of pink cocaine.
Further searches at his residence in Nea Ionia, a stash house in the Lykovrysi area, and another vehicle revealed additional quantities of drugs, as well as a blank-firing pistol.
The suspect is expected to appear before a prosecutor.
