SYRIZA urges government to condemn Netanyahu regime over Flotilla incident

In a statement, the party denounced the detention of flotilla members — including Greek nationals — by Israeli forces, accusing Israel of seeking to prolong its “illegal blockade” of the Gaza Strip.
"The obstruction of the international solidarity fleet for the people of Palestine, as well as the arrests of its members by the Israeli army, is an unacceptable act of piracy," SYRIZA said. "This aims to extend the illegal blockade of Gaza by Israel."
SYRIZA called for the immediate release of all detainees and demanded that the flotilla be allowed to proceed with its humanitarian mission to Gaza. "We demand that the government protect the rights of the Greek citizens of the flotilla and guarantee their safety," the statement added.
SYRIZA called on the Greek government to adopt a firm stance against the administration of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "The government must take a clear position against the Netanyahu regime and the threats and blackmail it unleashes," the statement said.
The party reiterated its call to end what it described as the “inhuman and illegal blockade” of Gaza and the “methodical genocide of the Palestinian people with weapons and famine.”
