Stavros Kalafatis, a New Democracy MP from Thessaloniki in northern Greece, has been appointed deputy minister for research and innovation at the Ministry of Development.
Stavros Kalafatis, a New Democracy MP from Thessaloniki in northern Greece, has been appointed deputy minister for research and innovation at the Ministry of Development, it was announced on Friday. He will replace Aristos Doxiadis, who resigned just over a day after joining the government.
Kalafatis, 59, has previously held several prominent roles. He served as deputy minister of development from 2007 to 2009, minister of Macedonia-Thrace in 2009, alternate minister of environment and climate change from 2012 to 2014, and deputy minister of interior, responsible for Macedonia-Thrace, from 2021 to 2023.
