Authorities are investigating the apparently drugs-related deaths of two inmates at the country’s biggest prison in Athens, police said.
A police statement said the two men found dead in Korydallos prison had joined a drugs rehabilitation program for inmates in early March. It said a preliminary investigation did not find any sign of the deaths being linked with the treatment the deceased men were undergoing.
The statement said autopsies and forensic tests for drugs use will be carried out on the bodies.
Reports said the two victims were a 47-year-old Greek man and a 43-year-old Bangladeshi, while a man from Mauritania was hospitalized in serious condition.
