Positive Outcomes from corntacts in Athens for Th. Savvakis

In a series of key meetings in Athens, Th. Savvakis, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Crafts of Rodopi, returned with positive results regarding several critical issues. During this week's meetings with relevant authorities, Savvakis, together with Rodope MP Özgür Ferhat and tax experts Ertjan Tumban and Christina Bouka, addressed concerns that affect the region, as he shared with "Radio Paratiritis 94fm".

Key Issues Raised
The first issue presented concerned the tax treatment of citizens from Thrace who temporarily work abroad, in countries such as Germany and the Netherlands. The second issue involved the lengthy bureaucratic process for closing down businesses, which affects many enterprises.

Savvakis explained that while the process is conducted digitally, it remains time-consuming and complicated due to the central system of AADE (Independent Authority for Public Revenue), where delays and problems primarily occur. These delays impact various other processes, such as pension applications and the closure of business records.

Positive Responses from Authorities
Savvakis emphasized that both issues received a positive response from the authorities. They committed to speeding up and easing the process of business closures and addressed the over-taxation issue for workers abroad. Authorities also promised to communicate with the relevant authorities in these countries to clarify and prevent mistakes. Additionally, they will issue a detailed guide to better inform workers.

Digital Transformation Challenges
For Savvakis, the transition to digital transformation remains the biggest obstacle for businesses and professionals today. He attributed this challenge to the lack of resources that prevent businesses from investing in necessary infrastructure. The Chamber is actively supporting professionals, and after Easter, it will hold four new seminars to educate them on sales, marketing, and new practices to increase revenue and profits.

Launching the Digital Customer Registry
Savvakis also discussed the pilot launch of the "Digital Customer Registry" system by AADE, starting with the automotive sector. This initiative marks the beginning of a new digital control over transactions, monitoring business interactions based on vehicle license plate entries and exits. Each visit will be accompanied by a receipt, which will automatically be transmitted to AADE, ensuring businesses comply with tax obligations.
