Platforms project 2025: The International Independent Art Fair returns to the tobacco factory

The international independent art fair Platforms Project – Independent Art Fair returns for the second consecutive year to the historic Tobacco Factory in Athens, running from October 9 to 12, 2025, with free admission and an extensive parallel program featuring participants from 25 countries.
For thirteen consecutive years, Platforms Project has created a global meeting point for artists and art theorists, fostering exchange, collaboration, and the exploration of new artistic ideas. Its mission is to act as a vibrant hub for creativity, documentation, and the promotion of pioneering trends in contemporary art.
The project is directed by Artemis Potamianou and Michalis Argyrou, with Potamianou also serving as the artistic curator. The Tobacco Factory venue has once again been made available with the support of the Hellenic Parliament.
65 Platforms – 900 Artists – 25 Countries
This year’s edition features 65 art platforms representing over 900 artists from 25 countries, including Greece, the United States, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Lebanon, Türkiye, Cyprus, Germany, India, Italy, Finland, Colombia, and Singapore.
The fair continues to expand its international network, solidifying its reputation as one of the most significant independent art fairs worldwide.
Talks, Panels, and Presentations
The 2025 program includes seven themed talks and symposiums, such as “Art & Work” coordinated by Elli Leventaki, and the international panel “Who Broke the News? From Headline to Artwork: Rethinking the Narrative” organized by FRONTPAGE, moderated by Julia Sysalova and Eva Marangaki.
Book presentations will also take place, including the art album by Fotis Kaggelaris and Efi Michalarou, as well as AICA Hellas’s publication Critique + Art No. 8: Women in Art Criticism and Postwar Greek Art, featuring contributions from Alexandros Voutsas and Dr. Maria Kamilaki.
International curators and artists such as Duda Affonso, JP Galvão, and Guta Galli will also speak, alongside a special tribute by The Red Boat platform to the late artist Stavroula Kaziale.
Open Studios
For the eighth consecutive year, Platforms Project will host Open Studios, showcasing works by students from the Athens School of Fine Arts, the School of Fine Arts at Aristotle University of Selanik, and the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication of the University of West Attica.
Guided Tours
Platforms Project remains the only art fair to include organized guided tours, offering visitors the opportunity to meet artists in person and engage with the ideas behind their work. These tours serve as a bridge between the public and the independent art scene, creating a more immersive and meaningful experience.
Kids’ Lab – October 11 & 12
The Kids’ Lab 2025, designed by Katerina Filindra, welcomes children aged 4 to 14, encouraging creativity through the construction of imaginative 3D worlds.
A special highlight is “The Exquisite Corpse” workshop by META-FRASTES, inspired by the surrealist collective game. Through collaborative storytelling and drawing, children explore imagination and teamwork in art-making.
