The European Commission on Friday approved the financing by the Greek state with 306 million euros of the construction of the south part of central Greecemotorway (E65), considering that this complies with free market rules and allows the completion of part of the inter-European road network while also limiting the distortion of competition.
European Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, responsible for Competition stated: "the construction of the south part of the motorway will improve the transport links for Greek citizens in the region according to the targets of the EU's transport policy and the conclusion of the inter-European road network. With our decision today, the Greek government will be able to support the construction of this important new part of the motorway".
