KKE reacts to the Greek Navy's sending a frigate to the Red Sea
"The dispatch of the Greek frigate to the Red Sea under the guise of protecting merchant ships involves the country even more deeply in dangerous imperialist plans, which are directly linked to the support of the United States," KKE said in a statement.
The statement stressed that Greek ships and other military units should not be used for missions other than the defence of the country and the protection of borders.
Defence Minister Nikos Dendias announced today that Greece will send a frigate to the Red Sea.
"On the orders of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, I have asked the Chief of the General Staff of Greece, Konstandinos Floros, and the Chief of the Naval Forces to have a frigate of the Greek Navy participate in Operation Welfare Guard to protect merchant ships and the lives of seafarers," Dendias said in his statement.
