Increase in pension and minimum wage

Finance Minister Christos Staikuras announced that there will be a 7.5 percent increase in pensions, effective from 2023.

Speaking to a television channel, Staikuras stated that the majority of the hikes will cover approximately 2.3 million citizens, especially low-paid retirees.

Stating that they will make the necessary legal arrangements to increase the minimum wage in the first six months of the new year, Staikuras said that the said increase will be the third increase in the last period.

Stating that tax reductions will be made for middle and low-income citizens, Staikuras noted that the fuel aid, which was 170 million euros in total last year, has been increased to 300 million euros this year and that the relevant amounts will be deposited into the citizens' accounts until the end of the year.
