Greek Parliament to honor voluntary blood donors

The Greek Parliament will host a special ceremony to honor voluntary blood donors from across the country. The ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 PM on May 9, 2025, at the Parliament’s General Assembly Hall.
The event is part of national activities organized by the Federation of Volunteer Blood Donor Associations of Greece (POSEA) to promote voluntary blood donation. With the support of the Greek Parliament, the ceremony will recognize 300 volunteers who have donated 50 or more units of blood, along with university student groups who have actively participated in organized blood donation drives.
From İskeçe, 67 individuals have been recognized for donating 50 or more units of blood. Among the honorees are Metin Karahoca, a religious studies teacher at İskeçe Minority Secondary School and High School, and Orhan Kahya, a businessman from the village of Mustafçova.
POSEA’s statement emphasized that the event serves as a concrete expression of gratitude for the volunteers’ selfless contributions and highlights blood donation as a lifestyle and example of community solidarity.
This event follows the inaugural award ceremony held in 2015 at the Presidential Palace.
