Greek Parliament lifts immunity of MPs Stamatís and Gramménos

The Hellenic Parliament has voted to lift the parliamentary immunity of New Democracy MP Giorgos Stamatís and Hellenic Solution MP Vasilis Gramménos.
In the roll-call vote, 256 MPs voted in favor of lifting Stamatís’ immunity (with 4 against and 1 abstention), while 259 MPs voted in favor for Gramménos (with 1 against and 1 abstention).
For Mr. Stamatís, the request relates to an alleged breach of duty during his tenure as Secretary General of the Ministry of Labor in 2021, before his election as MP.
For Mr. Gramménos, the case concerns the April 2024 incident of violence outside the Parliament chamber involving a confrontation with independent MP Konstantinos Floros. Mr. Floros filed a lawsuit accusing him of verbal abuse, threats, and false testimony.
The decision clears the way for judicial authorities to proceed with investigations into both cases.
