Greece, Türkiye plan next High-Level Cooperation Council for early 2026
Greek and Turkish officials are in contact to finalize the dates for the next meeting of the Greece–Türkiye High-Level Cooperation Council, which diplomatic sources say will take place in the first quarter of 2026.
According to the same sources, the Greece–United States Strategic Dialogue has also been scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 and will be held in Athens, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expected to attend.
The Greece–Türkiye High-Level Cooperation Council, established in 2010 to promote structured bilateral dialogue and cooperation, has convened intermittently in recent years. Its most recent session was held in December 2023.
Meanwhile, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis is reportedly preparing to launch initiatives focused on the western Balkans ahead of Greece’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2027.
According to Kathimerini, Gerapetritis plans to visit EU candidate countries in the region — Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo — all of which are at different stages of the EU accession process.
