FM Gerapetritis: Dialogue is the means to a solution

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, speaking at the conference on "Metapolitefsi 1974-2024: 50 years of Hellenic foreign policy", stressed that "dialogue is the means to a solution. It is the opportunity to take the big step forward".
"No problem can be solved without a productive consultative debate based on fundamental principles," he said at the conference organised by the Delphi Economic Forum, the Council on International Relations and the newspaper “ To Vima”.
"Greece has acquired a very strong diplomatic footprint, which allows it to have not only a regional role, but a purely international role, to be able to have a voice and to impose the principles of international law," Gerapetritis said.
He stressed that there cannot be a phobic framework for Greek-Turkish relations. He pointed out that Greece has very strong allies who appreciate its principled stance and stressed that "as a country we cannot be transactional, but we can be faithful to our principles."
He said that Greece moves on the basis of international law and does not have a dogmatic immobility. Gerapetritis also stressed that with the improvement of Greek-Turkish relations, "we have managed to restart the discussion on the resolution of the Cyprus problem."
