FM Dendias: Türkiye must end the tension first

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias made new statements regarding the increasing tensions with Türkiye recently.
Speaking to the Proto Thema newspaper, Dendias said that Athens is in favor of a constructive dialogue with Ankara within the scope of international law, but that Türkiye continues the provocations and said "Türkiye must end the tension first".
Dendias said, “Türkiye must decide whether it wants dialogue, the basis for this should be de-escalation. Türkiye is the only responsible for the increasing tension at the moment," he claimed.
Minister Dendias argued that Turkish authorities "increased tensions with baseless allegations and even personal insults".
After Greece shipped US-origin armored vehicles to the islands of Lesvos and Samos in the Aegean in violation of international law, the tensions increased when Türkiye gave a note to Greece and the USA.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "The weapons piled up in Western Thrace and the islands do not make sense to us because our strength is far beyond them, but we remind you that this means a secret occupation.”
