Famellos urges progressive parties to push no-confidence motion against the government

Sokratis Famellos, leader of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, has called on all progressive parties in the Parliament to immediately submit a joint motion of no confidence against the government.

Addressing the plenary, Famellos said that public distrust in the government is mounting and stressed the need for coordinated parliamentary and political action. “Our democratic duty cannot be limited to denunciation,” he said, urging opposition forces to use all tools at their disposal to respond to what he described as a “major governmental crisis.”

He cited multiple corruption scandals and growing insecurity as evidence of the government’s failings and accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of deepening political instability. Famellos also criticized Mitsotakis for avoiding parliamentary debates on the rule of law, calling it “contempt for parliament and democratic rules.”

The SYRIZA-PA leader framed the no-confidence motion as a necessary step to protect social cohesion and address the country’s political and economic challenges.
